A Beginner Jazz DVD Course to Teach Yourself at Home

Posted by admin
Jazz Music

Jazz Guitar is one of the most challenging styles to discover. It is improvisation techniques, unique and frequently abstract chords together with crazy scales makes learning jazz guitar a lifelong process.

Depending on your current skill level it may be tough to discover a expert guitar teacher inside yourregion who provides jazz guitar lessons. For this factmany beginners are turning to jazz guitar courses rather than relying on private instruction to teach them the chords, scales and techniques they require to play jazz guitar.

In this write-up we’ll outline exactly what you’ll need to look for in a jazz guitar course, and whereyou willmost likelyfindthe best program on-line.

While fancy videos, on screen graphics and bonus materialsmightseem flashy when shopping for a guitar course when it comes down to it the only thing that matters is thequality of the teacher. If the teacher doesn’t know their stuff then probabilities are the course is not going to satisfy your learningrequirements.

Look for a teacher who has experience with teaching jazz, has taught private lessons within the past or performs and records jazz music.

It isofteneasier to find a one off DVD to watch on a specific guitar skill then to discover a full blown course that covers everything about a specific style of guitar.

To save time and to maximize your experience I’d suggestsearching for a jazz guitar course that covers every thingyou’llneed to know such as chords, strumming and timing techniquesalong with scales and improvisation techniques.

Do it Yourself Hip Hop Music Business

Music Studio

At one point, artists really needed to rely on getting a recording contract or having a top management firm such as Violator Management to work their contacts and make a deal happen for the artist. This is a first hand account of how to build your own career in order to get a deal offered to you similar to Drake’s .5 Million deal from Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Records.

If you do NOT have a home studio to produce and at least reference tracks, I would start by doing this first. This will stop you from being at the mercy of any producers when you want to jump in a studio because you are creative. Creativity can hit at any moment to an artist. To be dependent upon a producer to get into their studio will hinder you and stop the creativity because you can’t just jump in and create music at will.

I recommend working and saving every dime of your money and buying an iMac computer that I am on right now first and foremost. The iMac comes with a software package called Garageband that will allow you to create music at least on your own. You MUST learn the software and the software instruments in order to become proficient with your tools. Making music is really about being technically proficient. It is a requirement to know how to use the computer, how to use the iMac, and how to really use Garageband effectively to create your own sounds.

Mastering Music Yourself

Posted by admin

In the the world of mastering there is really no such thing as DIY. Sure you can some eq and you can add a limiter to your output but this is not mastering. Before you can master audio you need to be 100pct sure of your acoustics (measured) and the monitors that you are using. Mastering speakers are big, they are not small bookshelf sized speakers, small speakers do not have the frequency response, power handling or scale of a high end professional monitor.

In a typically untreated room there could be frequency response dips and peak of +/- 15dB that makes judging bass levels and notes very very difficult, nigh on impossible. This is why DIY mastering is impossible. We live in a DIY culture, DIY mixing, DIY recording but there is little place for DIY in audio mastering. Real mastering engineers will have a minimum of 15 years recording and mixing experience under their belts and have had a wide and broad range of audio engineering experiences.

They have the knowledge and skill to be able to take the final responsibility of adjust the frequency response of your music before it is released. Everything must be in place for this to be correct otherwise those incorrect decisions are on the music release forever. In addition the tools used for mastering are specially selected and this selection takes refinement of hearing to get right and this level of hearing acuity does not come until a long period of professional audio engineering has been obtained by the engineer. So if you have been producing a few beats over the last years please do not consider yourself a mastering engineer, it is a skillset that is learnt over a long period of time and to think it’s possible to learn in a few years in a non professional environment is seriously undermining the profession.

Teach Yourself Acoustic Guitar

Acoustic

Have you ever listened to your favorite song played on acoustic guitar and wondered if you can pull of that same simple but incredibly melodic artistry? Of course you can always teach yourself how to play an acoustic guitar and find out for yourself. After all, even some of the greatest musicians of all time started playing by first teaching themselves to do it. So let’s cover the basics.

Get the right guitar. Now before you start picking out expensive acoustic guitars, understand what type of guitar would fit your style and preference better. It does not have to cost too much. You can go to several music stores and start your musical education by learning the feel of guitars and considering what’s more comfortable to play with.

You can start off with a Martin LX1 or an Epiphone DR-100. As a beginner, these acoustic beginner guitars can be cheap and, at the same time, work wonders. But you may soon want to trade them up as your skill develops. You can also try scouting music stores for secondhand acoustic guitars that offer great quality as well. Whatever your pick may be, follow your budget and see if the guitar works for you.

Practice on Chords. You can download guitar chords online or get one on music stores. Study the chords and practice them routinely on your guitar. Practice changing from one chord to the next to get the hang of it.

How to Establish yourself as a Music Teacher

Posted by admin

Many people who put their heart into music, put their business into music teaching. There are many fields of music education and if you are proficient in one or more you will surely find work. The first thing that a music teacher has to do is choose what he or she will focus on, be it an instrument, voice coaching, music theory or even music history. Next comes the time to assess your own knowledge on the topic. If you have a degree of Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Education or Master of Music, you are probably comfortable enough teaching at any level. However if your learning did no go that far, you should be teaching at a more basic level. In any case, be sure you are qualified and are honest about your qualifications with your clients.

Consider also who you want to teach. Maybe you would love to help young children take their first steps in music. Or maybe you want to work with older kids or adults on continuing or just starting their education. Be sure you adapt your teachings and, if you need to, talk to pedagogues so you know how to deal with a child. The planning of the classes can be tricky and do not think for a second that only adults can spot if you did not prepare the lesson. A kid will notice and can get bored and even give up if they feel you are not making an effort.
