EMI Encore Series Offers Quality Selection and Savings
Posted by adminAs a classical music fan, I am grateful to have the option of EMI Encore. Without this fantastic gem of a series, my collection of classical music CDs would have stalled years ago. With the chaos in the music distribution business, everyone has focused on the closing of major record store chains and how that is driving teens to downloading MP3s online, or buying them from online retailers like iTunes. What’s been lost in all this chaos is the impact on classical music. Most people I know prefer physical recordings like CD for this type of music and if it weren’t for EMI Encore Marketing, we’d have a poor selection of options. While a compressed MP3 file may be fine for the latest heavy metal, pop or hip hop track that the buyer is going to listen to through a pair of $20 ear buds, classical music purists try to avoid compressed file formats at all costs.
While EMI Encore does offer MP3 downloads for listening to classical music on portable devices, they also offer the option of lossless FLAC files, for digital files that don’t compromise on quality. There are thousands of titles to choose from, and a diverse range of artists. From my perspective, the true brilliance of EMI Encore is its extensive catalog of CD recordings of classical music performances. Many of these titles are virtually impossible to find anywhere else. They are mastered to make the most of the performances and sound wonderful on my stereo. A few of my recent purchases include: Prokofiev – Sinfonia Concertante & Cello Sonata, Brahms – String Quartet No. 1 & String Quintet No. 2 and Tchaikovsky & Rachmaninov – Piano Concertos.
