Independent artists and other players in the music industry must have somewhere to go to, not just to gain information about the world that they belong but also to be heard. Belonging to an organization that would cater to their interests will help them keep track on the field where they belong.

Fortunately, there is Music Biz, a community site that concerns itself with the music industry in general. It is distinct from other music sites because it is not necessarily all news, gossips, reviews and promotions although it also has that composition. Rather it is mainly a community site where independent artists can learn from0 insider’s opinions and analysis about certain issues and situation going on in the music business. Independent artists learn from them through their written articles presented in the editorials which are the main component of Music Biz. In the same way, independent artists can also contribute articles with the same theme. Article contribution should follow certain standards set by Music Biz so that all articles are reliable and impose certain credibility.

Aside from editorials, Music Biz does have news and feature articles. The news is basically taken as a link to the original site where the news came from. Independent artists can get the news by clicking the title and new window will open from where the news originated. The news in Music Biz is up to date and comes from different sources. Feature articles, on the other hand, are articles contributed to the members of the Music Biz. Not sure what’s happening with me on this one, but it seems like the more I listen to it, the better To The Stars gets. To The Stars simply put is one of Chick Corea’s best CDs to date.

I wish it weren’t the case but, it’s not everyday that I get a CD from an artist that I can just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. There is usually a song or two that I just can’t force myself to get through. Not at all the case with To The Stars. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.

One of the nicer things about a CD like this is when the talent is this rich even if Jazz isn’t your favorite style you still can’t help but appreciate the greatness of the artist.

If you’re even mildly into Jazz music you’ll enjoy this CD. Overall To The Stars is an a great release. I give it my double thumbs up. You will not be disappointed with one single track.

I recently had a friend ask me if it was possible to make rap beats online. He had paid $200 for desktop beat making software and was disappointed because the program required an extensive knowledge of math and audio. He wanted a simple user interface that allowed him to save his rap beats as mp3s so he could burn them to CDs and show his buddies. This was not an unreasonable request, so I started looking for alternatives to desktop beat programs.

The lack of options surprised me.. there are not many websites out there that let you make your own rap beats. The ones that do require you to pay the site royalties for every beat you make.That means if you ever make any money off the beats you make you are required to pay the website owner a hefty chunk. For us this was a huge turn off because we were in high school at the time and barely had $100 between us.

Also, the few sites that I did find did not support mp3s. I did not understand this as mp3 is practically the universal format for music these days. Mp3s are easy to burn to blank cds, which was important to us as we always had get togethers where we would get together after class and show off the rap beats we had made that week.  Read more...

Gerald Levert has released his most recent CD entitled Do I Speak For The World.

This one grabs your attention right from the very beginning with Intro/Speak For The World and won’t let go until the very last note of the very last song Do I Speak For The World, which by the way is another great track.

Pop music fans will recognize some of the well known contributors on the project including Emma Kummrow and Trey Songz plus a few other notables as well.

If you’re a Gerald Levert fan this is a CD your collection flat cannot be without. In fact, this is one of those CDs that you don’t even have to be a fan of Levert, or even Pop to know is good. This is just good music. Period.

While the entire CD is really very good some of my favorites are track 5 – Show You How To Love, track 14 – Where Do We Go, and track 16 – Do I Speak For The World
